- We discourage travelers to rent a car in Peru. For those who wish
to rent a car in Peru may be in for a surprise when driving in the
larger cities. Traffic is generally not organized and you may be in
for a harsh awakening when trying to drive in the cities where the
rule of the strongest seem to be apply. Country side roads and
highways are a lot easier to drive on but many of these roads lack
adequate pavement and you may encounter delays due to constructions
and sometimes landslides or rocks on the roads in the mountains.
Large areas of the country (the Amazon) can only be reached by air
or boat.
