for rest, reflection and peace.
History: La Casona de Yucay was an old
family hacienda constructed in 1810 by Don
Manuel de Orihuela, who received the Libertador
Simón Bolivar as a guest in 1825. The Libertador
Bolivar named Don Manuel de Orihuela “Vista de
la Renta de Alcabala” in 1825, and awarded him
the medal of “Padre Insigne de la Patria” in
1826.
Later, Don Manuel was named “Treasurer of the
Mint of Cusco” by General Gamarra in 1830, and
“Colonel of the Regiment” by Mariscal Ramón
Castilla in 1847.
The beautiful valley
surrounding the inn is irrigated by the
Vilcanota or Willcamayu river. For centuries it
has been used for agriculture activities and
during Inca Pachacutec’s reign, not only was it
the royal family’s favorite retreat, but also
the production center for grains, corn, fruits
and potatoes.
Make your stay in the area a magical experience
with nature and history. |
