One thing is for sure when visiting Leticia, the food is varied and
tasty. As the city is located in the three frontiers area, were
Colombia, Brazil and Peru meet on the border, the regions kitchen
offers a mix of plates from each country. Fish is one of the main
ingredients in many dishes but poultry and meat is also widely
available. Around town you will find many restaurants offering food
at great prices, but we strongly recommend to eat only in
restaurants recommended by your local guides. "Under-cooking" may
cause stomach problems resulting in ruining your vacation. You will
find that the Colombian kitchen has great tasting food prepared in
many ways with mostly local ingredients. Sometimes these ingredients
may be too challenging for our delicate stomachs which are not
accustomed to the ingredients used. We recommend you eat what you
normally eat at home and you will be alright. Your local guides will
be more than happy to guide you in the right direction. Meals in
hotels, on ships and at lodges is prepared with great care and is
safe to eat.
