Fe de Bogota, with a population
of some 7.5 million, is the capital of Colombia and is one of the
main entry points into the country. Over the past decades the city
and its surroundings have been transformed into a modern metropolis
where tourists and business people will find all the comfort
expected from a major International city.
At an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level, located on a plateau
(the "Savannah of Bogota") high up in the Andes mountains, Bogota
is one of the highest cities in the world.
This bustling metropolis offers travelers everything for a visit
before or after a trip to the coast, the Amazon or other places of
interest in Colombia.
The city has a great tourism infrastructure
with excellent hotels, great sightseeing, cultural activities, fine dining
and much more.
Bogota is a city of futuristic architecture, vibrant and diverse
cultural and intellectual life, splendid colonial churches and
brilliant museums. "Must see" attractions are the world famous gold
museum where gold artifacts are on display in a high security
walk-in vault, take the cable car up to the sanctuary of Monserrate,
located at an altitude of 3,190 meters from where you will have
spectacular views of the city, visit the colonial part of town at
"La Candelaria" with its Spanish style balconies and tile roofs and
take a trip to the Salt Cathedral of Ziqaquira, outside of town, carved deep into the
mountain, and top it all off with dinner reservations at one of the
fine restaurants in the mountains overlooking the entire city. |
