AM -
Upon arrival of
the International flight you will be met at the airport and
transferred to the hotel on Copacabana Beach. You will have time to
check in and rest a little.
PM -
Around midday we
will depart for a city tour of Rio de Janeiro, going downtown to
visit the Cathedral, known as the Church of the Candelaria, built by
the Portuguese in the late 1700s in Baroque style. The two
dome-topped towers of Rio's largest church rise over 230 feet above
the urban jungle. Next, we tour the beaches of Copacabana, Flamengo
and Ipanema (remember the famous Bossa Nova song "Girl from
Ipanema"?). We will stop for a ride at the Sugar Loaf with the
famous Cable Car where you will have a view of this beautiful city
and the sea below.

EVE - In the
evening, go out on the town, or optionally attend a wonderful Samba
show at the Plataforma (the best in the city!). Overnight at the
hotel in Rio.
(No meals)
Day 3 -
Rio de Janeiro
AM & PM - Today you
can enjoy
a free day in Rio. Explore this great city on your own or go on an
optional boat tour to the Tropical Island nearby.

Day 4
- Rio de Janeiro
AM & PM -
Today you can
spend time taking in some more sights of Rio or relax at your
leisure on the beach. We can arrange for an optional tour to
Corcovado Mountain, which towers 2,000 feet over the city. Combine
this with an excursion to the Tijuca Forest, a tropical forest area
covering over 40 square miles; it is the majestic remnant of the
rainforest that once surrounded Rio. Here you can see waterfalls, a
colonial chapel, lagoons, caves and a botanical garden in Tijuca.
EVE -
Overnight in Rio
de Janeiro.

Day 5
- Rio de Janeiro -
Iguassu Falls
AM -
We will proceed
to the airport for our morning flight to Iguassu where, upon arrival,
we will be met by our local guide who will provide the transfer to
the hotel.
PM -
We will
spend the entire afternoon visiting Iguassu Falls, truly one of the
world's greatest natural wonders. The Falls consist of 275
waterfalls cascading over a precipice into the Paranį river. They
are produced by waters of the Iguassuµ River, the source of which is
near Curitiba. We'll go on a guided tour of the Falls from the
Brazilian side. Exotic birds and butterflies can be seen at close
range in the verdant araucaria evergreen forest.
EVE -
For entertainment
we can offer the optional "Three Nation Show," a dinner show with
dancers from Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, or go to the Teatro
Plaza, a fine choice to see a colorful folkloric show with
wonderfully costumed dancers. Overnight at Iguassu Falls.
(No meals)

Day 6
- Iguassu Falls
AM & PM -
The
best views of the Falls can be observed from the Brazilian side, in
the crisp morning air. You'll never forget the sight of the
cascading water and the roar of the Falls. Optional tours include
taking the Macuco, a boat ride through the waterfalls, or a
helicopter flight over the Falls, an exhilarating event. You may
also want to cross the border to Argentina; the flora and fauna are
best observed on the Argentine side. If interested, you can go to
see Itaipu, the world's largest hydroelectricity plant. The plant,
on which construction began in the early '70s, is considered a
multibillion dollar fiasco, but a very impressive one nonetheless.
Buses depart hourly for free guided tours of the plant, which are
fascinating.
EVE - In
the evening, we can opt to attend a lavish dinner show performed by
international dancers in colorful garb.
(No meals)
