The water levels rise significantly during the
rainy season from November through the beginning of April. Then,
from May to October, the water levels begin to lower, and what were
lakes, gradually diminish to small ponds, and then to mere puddles.
Populations of fish become trapped as their home evaporates,
providing the birds with a glorious buffet, far easier to feast on
than when the waters are fullest. Therefore, if you are interested
in bird-watching, this is your time! A word to the wise - do not
forget your insect repellent or flashlights, and leave your Sunday
best at home.
