The Acajatuba Jungle Lodge is a rustic
authentic
ecological hotel located in the heart of the Amazon Jungle, ideal for those
who want to feel one with nature but want to do
so in a safe environment. Its privileged
position is near the world’s largest
complex of river islands, Anavilhanas Archipelago (over 400 islands) and the legendary
Boiaçu Bay,
which, according to the legends, is the home of a gigantic snake.
Acajatuba Lodge was built on the banks of the
Acajatuba
River, a tributary of the Rio Negro (Black River), approximately
32 miles away from Manaus, the capital city
of the Amazon.
The structure of the Lodge was based on native
homes, built with rustic wood and covered with
leaves of palm trees. In the best interest of
guests and for safety procedures, the various
sections (bar, restaurant, reception and gift
shop) are elevated from the ground and connected
by walk-ways. Parrots, macaws, monkeys, and
parquets live freely around the lodge and add to
the atmosphere.
Accommodations are provided in rustic bungalows,
offering 40 guest rooms distributed in 20
bungalows. Each bungalow has two guest rooms
with screened windows, and private bathrooms
with running water from natural springs. Rooms
can be used as single, double or triple.
Permanent bar services and meals are served in a
buffet style restaurant which has a panoramic
view of the river and the forest.
Electricity is provided at night only by the use
of a generator, which is turned off late at
night to create a completely natural
environment. The ambience is magnificent as the
only sounds heard are the ones provided by
mother mature.
Walk-ways connecting the different areas of the
lodge are named after Amazonian rivers (Negro
River, Solimões River and Madeira River).
Bungalows along the walk-ways are named after
the Indian tribes found along these particular
rivers. The lodge also has a 27 meter high
observation tower, presenting spectacular views
of the river and the forest.
Transportation
to the lodge is mainly through regional boats and takes approximately 3
hours by boat on a sightseei9ng transfer. There is
a possibility of transportation by car, in which a ferry-boat is
utilized
to cross the river, and then a road is taken for approximately 30
miles until the Ubim Lake,
where the trip continues by motorized canoes for another hour.
The lodge is ideal for those who want to feel at one with
nature, but want to do so in a safe authentic Amazon environment. The main objectives
of the staff and guides at Acajatuba is to provide guests with the perfect place to go for
a fascinating ecological adventure.
Programs include the exploration of the Amazon
Rainforest where guides will lead you on
excursions to learn and observe the Flora and
Fauna of this magnificent area. Regional canoes, built
by natives of the region, are used for excursions. The area surrounding
Acajatuba Jungle Lodge has an incredible
sense of tranquility and closeness to nature. No words can describe this
lifetime experience.
Escape from the confines of your daily life and spend some time in the
Amazon Rainforest in
a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. |
