Park Chapada dos
Guimarães is located
in the central region of the State of Mato Grosso close to the town
of Chapada dos Guimarães.
Formed by several table mountains, the main one being mount São
Jerônimo, with and altitude of 836 meters, considered magical
by some habitants and guests, who affirm to have seen UFOs, Gnomes,
Fairies…
Its vegetation is Cerrado (savanna), with colorful flowers, low and
twisted trees, and gallery forests which contain, many plant
species. Mammal species such as the Maned wolf, Pampas deer,
Gato-palheiro and bird species such as the Gavião-uiraçu, the
águia-real, the socó-boi, and reptile species such as the
jacaré-coroa, represent the fauna.
The park is open to the public from 8 am to 5 pm, and may be visited
during the entire year.
A visit to Chapada dos Guimarães
should be combined with a visit to the
Pantanal and the Amazon, both excellent places for sightseeing, rappel,
skydiving, ballooning, trekking,
sport fishing and, especially exotic photography. |
